A keystone
is an architectural necessity that has evolved into a decorative
feature. A keystone is placed at the top or an arch, directly
in the center. Today, you may find arches with a keystone
at the top-center and two matching keystones placed equidistance
away from the top of the arch. This adds to the visual appeal
of the arch.
The wood keystone is not only used on arches in today’s
homes. It can be used to accent bookcases, doors, windows,
and cabinets. Wood keystones are used to spice up the appearance
of many places throughout the home.
There are many beautiful wood keystone designs available from which to choose. These designs range from simple, stylized “blocks” to acanthus leaf carvings. You can choose from floral swags or grape bunch motifs. These keystones are even more attractive because they are made from wood.
A wood keystone has a natural warmth that is hard to match. Wood
also has an inviting texture that is visible. A wood keystone
may be made from woods including pine, poplar, walnut, cherry,
or mahogany.
A wood keystone is small, but it adds a lot to the ambiance of
a home.
